About the Role and Where You Will Be Working
The Head Chef’s major responsibility is to prepare, cook and serve nourishing and appealing in‑house meals and drinks for residents (whether the meals are full, soft, fluid or therapeutic diets) which are consistent with the organisation’s menu and the food service budget. The chef works collaboratively with staff to optimise the dining experience of residents.
The position is a full‑time position working Monday to Friday 9am –5pm and is based at Southern Cross East Fremantle residential care facility, catering for up to 83 residents.
We’ll also be asking you to:
- Manage all activities associated with catering service including directing and organising kitchen staff and food preparation and assisting staff who serve meals.
- Manage stock control, food ordering, and receipt of food storage and food storage/rotation.
- Ensure all kitchen and serving services staff comply with policies and procedures in relation to secure food handling.
- Assist management in resolving complaints in relation to food service.
About You
With commercial cooking experience under your belt, you may already be working in aged care or perhaps you've been contemplating moving into the aged care sector. You might have finessed your skills in restaurants or commercial kitchens but want to try something different. Once you’ve settled into your new role, you'll truly appreciate knowing that you've made a genuine difference in the quality of our residents’ lives.
To Be Considered for This Role, You’ll Need
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cooking
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- Prior experience in commercial cooking services – Aged Care.
- An understanding of specific dietary requirements
- Knowledge of safe handling & storage of chemicals
- Great interpersonal skills
