About the roleAs a Principal Engineer at Yarra Ranges Council, you will provide senior technical leadership in the planning, design and delivery of complex civil infrastructure, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements and reflect best‐practice engineering. Experience and skills we're looking for• Adjusts effectively to evolving project requirements, design standards and site conditions while maintaining high‐quality engineering performance.• Quickly absorbs new technical information, codes, and methodologies, applying them to improve engineering designs and project outcomes.• Uses a collaborative and flexible approach to build strong multidisciplinary engineering teams that work cohesively toward shared project goals.• Provides timely technical coaching and constructive feedback to help engineers and field staff strengthen their skills and solve complex problems.• Makes sound engineering decisions by analysing data, assessing risks, reviewing design options and selecting solutions aligned with evidence and project constraints.• Manages time, resources and project workflows efficiently to ensure engineering deliverables are completed accurately, safely and on schedule.• Applies strong technical and professional knowledge while staying current with developments in relevant fields.• Sets and upholds high work standards by taking responsibility for outcomes and striving for excellence independently.• Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with several years of significant relevant Local Government experience in municipal engineering, civil infrastructure project delivery, and asset management.• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the area of civil engineering in accordance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.• Great organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with diverse customers.If you have some but not all these skills or experience, we still encourage you to apply.
