As a Data Analytics Consultant, you will join our innovative Digital Transformation and Data division (DTD) within the Corporate Operations Group (COG). DTD partners with stakeholders across Macquarie Group on digital transformation initiatives as well as upskilling digital capabilities across the enterprise using our specialists in architecture, data and design.
**About the role**:
This role will see you using your robust combination of business and hands-on technical skills to support a wide variety of transformation initiatives across Macquarie. You will influence and help produce value with data, work with other skillsets and build strong relationships in the wider business to deliver end to end outcomes. You will be part of a team of data specialists with DTD such as business analysts, data analysts and data scientists.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- Partnering with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, and scope how their business problems might be solved with data
- Identifying, determining feasibility, and shaping data-led use cases
- Determining appropriate analytical approaches to create value
- Discovery of where data might exist and how it might be combined
- Performing exploratory data analysis; developing and testing hypotheses; creating metrics; designing and documenting data models, logic and transformations; building prototypes
- Identify opportunities to improve information management as part of projects
- Communicating requirements to, and partnering with, relevant technology and data specialists (such as data engineers and architects) to productionise data prototypes and to articulate data that needs to be made available
- Identify and hand over to data scientists where statistical modelling, NLP or machine learning is required
**To be successful in this role you will have the following skills/background and experience**:
- You'll have at least 5 years relevant experience in data roles
- Curious and business outcome focused with an ability to quickly understand a business area, cope with ambiguity, break down a complex problem and work out how to solve it without having been given detailed requirements
- Strong collaboration skills having worked with business stakeholders at different levels of seniority and technical proficiency
- Prior experience working in a complex analytics environment with stakeholders to understand and capture their business and data requirements
- Comfortable working across a wide range of data sets and systems
- Critically reflect and challenge assumptions about how things should be done, exploring solutions that others might not consider
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills - being able to both interpret and articulate complex information in a clear, concise way
- Work well independently as well as part of a team
- Worked in a consultancy or centre of excellence
**Experience that is preferable**:
- Visualisation experience with Power BI or another Visualisation tool
- Broad understanding of, but not necessarily expertise in, data strategy, data visualisation, data architecture and what is involved in bringing data products into production
- Project management or leading small projects
- Human centred design
