Executive Manager Risk and Controls The Team Business Banking (BB) offers a wide range of services and solutions for small to medium businesses, enterprises and large corporations, regional and agribusiness customers, as well as stockbroking and margin lending services to retail customers. Within BB, the purpose of the BB Governance team as part of the BB Chief Controls Office is to enable BB leadership to make informed, high-quality, risk/reward decisions in order to achieve operational and strategic goals. Do work that matters As the Executive Manager Governance, you will lead the BB Governance team to provide advice and support in the optimisation and effective management of non-financial risks; providing mechanisms for monitoring and reporting to senior leadership, introducing efficiency and consistency through automation and standardisation; and promoting ways to create ongoing challenge. Key responsibilities Play a key role in executing against the Business Banking strategy and growth agenda, by providing advice and support in the optimisation and effective management of financial and non-financial risks, and providing transparency to the BB Leadership Team over the status of risk within BB. Lead the end-to-end governance activities of BB’s Non-Financial (NFR) and Financial (FR) risk committees (including BB NFRC, LoB NFRCs, BB FRC), sub-committees (including Financial Crime and Commitments), and forums (including BB Product Governance Forum and Executive Action Teams). Improve and drive discipline, simplicity and efficiency into the governance processes, introducing best practice and operational excellence, engaging with key stakeholders across the business, Line 2, Audit and the Group to achieve outcomes. Draft key Committee papers, including the annual Business Banking Internal Controls Update for presentation at the Executive Leadership Team NFRC and Board Audit Committee. Apply critical thinking to BB governance and oversight framework current state to determine opportunities for improvement and drive uplift in design and implementation. Drive the dynamic refresh of the Business Banking Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), working with the business and Line 2 to continually ensure the RAS reflects the appropriate risk indicators and appetite measures the business must monitor in order to achieve strategic objectives. Lead, motivate and inspire a team of governance, planning and reporting professionals and support their capability development. We are interested in people who have: Risk and Compliance mindset with sound to advance knowledge and experience in Operational Risk and Compliance Management; some knowledge of the regulatory and business banking environment would be beneficial. Experience in process improvements, driving actions and delivering measured benefits. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to think critically, analytically and strategically. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams. Ability to engage with and influence a large and varied stakeholder group. Strong attention to detail, organisational, planning, time management and project management skills.
