Our Federal Government Client is seeking an experienced Technical Officer with strong capability in Gallagher Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS) and Type 1 / Type 1A electronic security systems to support technical security operations, system upgrades and project delivery across domestic government sites.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong troubleshooting ability, stakeholder engagement skills, and the capability to work independently under limited supervision in secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
* Provide Gallagher EACS and Type 1A support to a secure government network
* Perform maintenance, upgrades, and enhancement works across domestic sites
* Conduct site surveys and document maintenance/upgrade requirements across security infrastructure (alarms, access control, CCTV, public screening equipment)
* Provide technical advice to design teams undertaking refit and upgrade projects
* Coordinate pre-installation and pre-maintenance planning (communications, hardware procurement, logistics/freight planning)
* Engage stakeholders to assist with planning, scheduling and delivery of installations and maintenance
* Support installers with installation, maintenance, programming and commissioning of electronic security systems (EACS, Type 1A, CCTV etc.) in line with strict government requirements
* Deliver user training and operational support for electronic security systems
* Maintain and update documentation including site plans, as-builts, drawings, technical documentation and training materials
* Manage your workload effectively, including planning, prioritising and meeting deadlines under limited supervision
* Perform other duties as required by management / project leads
Mandatory Skills & Experience
To be successful you must have:
* Proven Gallagher programming experience (or similar)
* Demonstrated experience installing and maintaining EACS and Type 1 / Type 1A systems
* Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs) for system integration
* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals
* Familiarity with relevant compliance standards (AS/NZS, ISO)
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong stakeholder engagement capability
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Ability to operate in secure, high-pressure environments with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications / Certifications
You must hold (or be willing to obtain):
* Open Cabling Registration with Fibre & Structured Cabling endorsement
* Gallagher Certification (EACS + Type 1A, Standard & Privileged User)
* WHS White Card
* Working Safely at Heights
* Confined Spaces
* Asbestos Awareness
* First Aid
* Valid Driver's Licence and ability to travel between sites
Highly Desirable
* Experience with Type 1 / Type 1A Alarm Systems, including Gallagher Type 1A
* Gallagher Access Technician accreditation
* Experience working in secure environments requiring compliance and accreditation
Security Requirements
* NV2 Security Clearance is mandatory prior to commencement- only NV2 candidates will be considered
Contract Details
* Contract Length: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
