About Us:
The Queensland Association of State School Principals (QASSP) is a professional association dedicated to supporting the leadership of state schools across Queensland. As we prepare for our 3-day flagship event, the QASSP School Leadership Conference (13th to 15th May), we are looking for a passionate and organised Events Assistant to join our team on a 3-month, fixed term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a key event in the education sector and gain valuable event coordination experience.
About the Role:
As our Casual Events Assistant, you will provide essential support in the planning and execution of the 2026 School Leadership Conference, ensuring that all aspects of the event run smoothly. This is a dynamic, hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to gain experience in event coordination.
Please note: The role will start at 2 x 6-hour days per week, with hours increasing as we get closer to the conference. More intensive hours will be required leading up to and during the event.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the coordination and logistics of the School Leadership Conference, including venue arrangements, catering, and tech support.
* Manage event registrations, process delegate queries, and ensure timely communication with participants.
* Assist in building and managing the event app, ensuring it is updated with relevant session details, speaker and exhibitor information, and delegate engagement features.
* Liaise with exhibitors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution.
* Prepare event materials, such as lanyards, signage and welcome packs.
* Assist in the setup and breakdown of the event space, ensuring everything is in place.
* Provide on-site support during the conference, including delegate registration, managing inquiries, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
* Contribute to post-event feedback collection and evaluations.
* Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position, as directed by the Events Manager and Executive Officer.
About You:

* A clear communicator, able to liaise with various stakeholders with professionalism and enthusiasm.
* Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude towards problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
* Detail-oriented, ensuring that all aspects of the event are executed smoothly.
* Experience in event coordination (desirable but not essential).
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and event management software (desirable but not essential).
* Experience working with the CrowdComms app and iMIS software (desirable but not essential).
