Job Overview:
We are seeking a Gas Market Strategist to join our team in a key role that will drive the sourcing and supply security of natural gas requirements. This position will be responsible for delivering best commercial outcomes for the business by managing all-natural gas supply, purchase, network and service agreements.
About the Role:
The Gas Market Strategist will play a crucial role in monitoring natural gas prices and facilitating 'value in use' discussions with stakeholders. This involves formulating, executing and managing sourcing strategies for gas and environmental products that align with long-term sustainability and cost-efficiency goals. The successful candidate will also manage the end-to-end process of negotiation, development and formation/preparation of contracts for supply, transportation and storage of natural gas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement effective gas sourcing strategies to maximize value for the business.
* Manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts that meet business needs.
* Monitor market trends and pricing to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on gas sourcing strategies and initiatives.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Formal qualifications in Engineering, Commerce or a related discipline.
* Previous experience in gas trading and operations, including coordination of activities with AEMO pipeline operators and other market participants.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver on strict deadlines.
* Strong reporting skills – SQL and Power BI experience ideal.
* Ability to work independently, multi-task and possess strong commercial acumen.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate and engage relevant internal and external stakeholders.
