Job Title: Aboriginal Education Specialist
Champion Bay Senior High School is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated professionals who can improve the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Islander students. The role involves ensuring these students receive the support they need to feel welcome, respected, understood and cared for.
The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of the histories, languages, social and cultural protocols of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples. They will be responsible for mentoring and pastoral care, providing support to students, their parents/guardians, teachers and the community through the knowledge, understanding and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture.
The role requires reliability and flexibility, with a focus on developing positive relationships between staff, students, parents and the community. The applicant will also be involved in facilitating school and family connections, working closely with students to support student wellbeing, attendance and engagement.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Improve the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Islander students
* Ensure students receive the support they need to succeed

Selection Criteria:
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the histories, languages, social and cultural protocols of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples
Eligibility:
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check
* Consent to a and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department's Screening Unit
