This is an exciting opportunity to gain full-time, paid work while working towards a Certificate III in Waste Management.As a trainee, you'll support the day-to-day operations of Council's waste facilities, including landfill services and customer support.
You'll assist with machine operation, site maintenance, and general landfill tasks, all while delivering high-quality service to the community.
This hands-on experience, combined with formal training, will help launch a meaningful career in environmental and community-focused work.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need: A willingness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude Sound written and verbal communication skills Teamwork skills and the capacity to work in a hands-on, outdoor environment Basic computer literacy to support training and on-the-job tasks The ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate III in Waste Management) within 24 months Commitment to undertaking the requirements of the associated qualification A minimum Queensland C Class provisional driver's licence (or eligibility and willingness to obtain one within 6 months of commencement) A General Construction Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement Why work for Central Highlands Regional Council?
