Cape Byron Power is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead safe, reliable, and compliant operations across our power station assets.
This is a high-impact, site-based role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical operations and maintenance, working closely with the O&M Manager to deliver plant performance, manage contractors, and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
What you’ll do
* Lead mechanical O&M activities across site, including contractors and service providers
* Ensure compliance with licences, regulations, and safe access procedures
* Plan and deliver maintenance activities in line with budget and business targets
* Monitor contractor performance and drive accountability to KPIs
* Analyse plant performance, trends, and reporting to support decision-making
* Support delivery of plant output in line with the Business Plan
* Drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and cost performance

* Full compliance with regulatory, licence, and contractual requirements
* Maintenance delivered on time and within budget
* Reliable plant performance aligned to business targets
* Clear, accurate reporting and performance insights
About you
* Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer (essential)
* 3+ years’ experience in power generation or heavy industry
* Strong background in mechanical maintenance planning and delivery
* Proven experience managing contractors and influencing outcomes
* Strong understanding of compliance, safety systems, and asset management
* Commercially aware with the ability to balance performance and cost
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
