Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) represents the Kokatha People - the Traditional Owners of a vast area of land in northern South Australia. Formed in 2014, KAC is responsible for protecting and managing native title rights, cultural heritage, and the interests of the Kokatha People, while also building a robust economic base that creates employment, education, and enterprise opportunities for current and future generations.
With ongoing growth and evolving operations, KAC is seeking an experienced Operations Safety Coordinator who is proactive, collaborative, and ready to make a real impact.
So, what’s the role?
In this newly created position, you’ll report to the General Manager, Operations and work closely with operational leaders to ensure compliance with safety legislation, industry standards, and KAC’s objectives. You’ll combine technical WHS expertise with the ability to build relationships and foster a culture of safety across varied worksites.
Here’s what a typical week might look like:
- Conducting safety inspections and audits at pastoral, mining, and heritage services sites
- Leading toolbox talks, training, and wellbeing programs to support a strong safety culture
- Reviewing and updating WHS policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
- Investigating incidents and near misses, ensuring lessons are learned and risks addressed
- Partnering with managers and contractors to ensure best-practice safety standards are in place
- Providing safety reports and updates to the General Manager, Operations and Board
- Travelling to Kokatha worksites, including Pt Augusta and Carrapateena, to build strong on-ground relationships

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:
- Hold qualifications or competencies in WHS
- Have experience in safety roles within mining, pastoral, or remote operations
- Know your way around WHS legislation, codes, and compliance requirements
- Are proactive and solutions-focused, with strong problem-solving ability
- Communicate clearly and can influence stakeholders at all levels
- Enjoy building relationships and are comfortable travelling for site visits
- Hold a valid driver’s licence and can obtain relevant clearances (National Police Check, DHS Working with Children)
