Sous Chef Job Description
We are seeking a talented individual to join our high-volume food production team as a Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven professional to lead a team and contribute to the success of our kitchen.
Main Responsibilities:
* Food Preparation Planning: Plan and direct food preparation in our kitchen, supervising other staff members as needed.
* Inventory Management: Order required food and equipment daily to meet production demands.
* Team Leadership: Provide leadership and training to junior staff, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
* Production Execution: Execute and supervise food production, packing, and tray-set activities.
* Culinary Expertise: Prepare complex meals or dishes according to specifications.
* KPI Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and control labour, food costs, and shrinkage.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated success in a similar role, ideally in a high-end venue.
* Trade-qualified Chef with at least 2 years' experience in a high-volume food production environment.
* Advanced knowledge of HACCP, QSAI, and Food Safety, as well as Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
* Prior experience working in airline catering and service-oriented environments.
* Leadership skills, including ability to work in a team environment.
* Good financial understanding and cost-consciousness.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
