As a Technical Officer Conservation, you'll provide specialist technical advice and support across conservation maintenance programs, working closely with contractors, stakeholders and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes for our growing community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Conservation Maintenance, this Level 7 role is responsible for delivering conservation maintenance advice, managing contracts, and contributing to strategies and programs that protect and enhance biodiversity across the City's natural areas.
You'll balance competing priorities, provide expert advice, develop and implement conservation programs, and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise in conservation management and maintenance activities
Develop, implement and evaluate conservation strategies, programs and plans
Manage conservation maintenance contracts, including developing specifications, overseeing procurement, and monitoring contractor performance
Liaise with contractors, consultants, government agencies and the community
Prepare reports, maintain registers and ensure compliance with WHS, legislative and governance requirements
Support continuous improvement through innovative ideas and process enhancements
About You
You're an organised and proactive professional with strong technical knowledge of conservation maintenance and a collaborative approach to working with others.
You enjoy solving problems, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to positive environmental outcomes.
To be successful in this role you'll have:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience in a similar conservation or environmental role
Sound knowledge of native flora, fauna, and conservation maintenance practices
Experience managing contracts and working with contractors
Intermediate experience using information systems and technology
