About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Queensland Abergeldie team, supporting the safe delivery of water infrastructure projects across the Unitywater Project Program. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role, working closely with project teams across the Sunshine Coast and City of Moreton areas, providing practical safety leadership in dynamic construction environments.
The Senior Health and Safety Advisor is a member of the Program team, responsible for the Health and Safety leadership and management of the Program. Primarily, the role is focused on the safety of our workers, the public and the users and operators of Unitywater's assets. This role works closely with each of the other members of the Program and projects, to foster a strong safety culture, focused on all personnel owning their own safety.
In addition, the Senior Health and Safety Advisor will
Ensure that all references to Unitywater's WHS policies and procedures are correct.
Ensure compliance with all Unitywater's and legislative requirements for WHS on projects.
Lead, actively contribute and develop risk identification and risk mitigation strategies.
Lead, actively contribute and develop management plans.
Ensure sufficient safety project resources are allocated based on each project's individual safety risk and requirements.
Ensure projects are delivered according to the Safety Management Plan, including actively auditing, inspecting and closing out corrective actions with the support of the Project Manager.
Provide the required guidance and mentoring to project Safety Advisors.
You'll be regularly on site, working directly with crews and subcontractors to influence safe behaviours, ensuring WHS compliance and leading incident investigations. You'll help drive continuous improvement and strengthen a proactive safety culture across the Program.
What You'll Bring To The Team
Considerable and demonstrated experience in construction delivery within a contractor environment
Experience delivering water infrastructure or utility‑based civil projects (Unitywater experience highly regarded)
Cert IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum) or Diploma in Work Health and Safety
General Construction Induction (White Card)
Current valid driver's licence
Strong understanding of WHS legislation, compliance requirements and safety management systems
Ability to lead risk identification and mitigation processes
Experience developing and reviewing WHS and Management Plans
Proven capability in conducting audits, inspections and supporting incident investigations
Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and guide
A proactive, hands‑on approach to safety leadership in dynamic site environments
