An exciting new leadership opportunity is available within the Nepean Hospital Pain Management Centre for a highly experienced Physiotherapist to join our team as a Clinical Specialist in Pain Management. This role offers the chance to work within a dynamic interdisciplinary team comprising physiotherapists, nurses, psychologists, and medical specialists, dedicated to assessing and managing complex pain presentations.
The successful candidate will provide advanced practice physiotherapy and clinical leadership, delivering evidence-based assessments and treatments to outpatients both individually and in group settings. The role includes contributing to and leading quality improvement initiatives, education programs, and research activities across the hospital, the local health district, and nationally. Academic affiliation opportunities are available through the University of Sydney.

What you will bring to the role
* Degree in Physiotherapy and current National Physiotherapy Registration with AHPRA and; Post Graduate Qualifications in Pain Management, or have gained peer recognition by a panel of discipline colleagues, by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia in Pain Management; or Hold a substantive academic conjoint appointment for conducting clinical research in the area of pain management.
* Evidence of extensive experience and demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise in Pain Management physiotherapy and a recognition of high clinical standing in the professional community.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate at high levels in the scientific community, work autonomously, use initiative and organise workload with minimal direct supervision.
* Possess excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels, with a proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and promote highly innovative models of care to enhance service delivery in Physiotherapy Pain Management.
* Proven record in completing research in physiotherapy as the lead author in published research in pain. Ability to integrate research, education and clinical care in the field of Pain Management physiotherapy with demonstrated capacity for ongoing contribution to the field of pain management physiotherapy.
* Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement and/or research initiatives, service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
* Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary Pain Management team to effectively manage complex physical and cognitive-behavioural issues utilising best practice with appropriate team communication.
