Rubicon Water Engineering delivers end-to-end solutions across a broad range of technologies, including radio and IoT products, sensing and flow metering systems, motor and actuation solutions, power management, and user interface technologies.
As an Electronics Engineer, you will work as part of a collaborative team to support the development, testing, and ongoing support of innovative embedded products aligned with our product roadmap. You will contribute across the full product lifecycle — from concept development and specification through to hardware and firmware development, documentation, test plan creation and execution, production tester design, and both field and production support.
The role provides exposure to design for reliability, as well as designing products suited for outdoor and environmental conditions.
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain C-based embedded firmware in line with company version control and release processes
* Design electronic schematics and printed circuit boards using Altium Designer (or equivalent), including prototyping and validation
* Contribute to concept development, technical specifications, and test plan development and execution
* Support the development of production testers as part of manufacturing and process planning
* Participate in root cause investigations, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and other gated project processes
* Provide technical support during production and for installed products in the field
* Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders
* Comply with company policies, procedures, and quality management systems
* Occasional travel to the Shepparton factory and installed sites as required
Experience & skills
* Tertiary qualification in electronics, embedded systems, electrical and electronics engineering (or related), with at least three years' experience in a commercial engineering environment
* Strong experience in embedded C microcontroller firmware development and electronic schematic/PCB design using Altium Designer or equivalent, with a sound understanding of firmware development best practices, version control, and documentation
* Proven problem-solving and analytical capability, including fault finding and root cause analysis, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an R&D environment
* Strong communication and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
