Optical Assistant
Part‐Time Opportunity | Emerald, VIC
Emerald Eyes Optical is looking for a warm, engaging, and proactive Optical Assistant to join our independent practice in the Dandenong Ranges.
This permanent part‐time role will initially commence at 2 days per week, with the potential to grow into additional days for the right person long term.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, brings positive energy to a team environment, and feels confident working independently once trained.
The Role
This is a varied role combining patient interaction, reception, retail support, and day‐to‐day practice duties.
You'll be involved in:
* Assisting patients with frame selection and eyewear styling
* Reception and appointment coordination
* General administrative support
* Supporting the Optometrist on the retail floor
* Helping create a positive and welcoming patient experience
* Contributing ideas for social media and practice promotion
One of the working days will involve operating more autonomously within the practice, so confidence, initiative, and organisation are important qualities for success in this role.
About You
You may already have experience in optical, retail, customer service, or a healthcare reception environment, though just as important is your ability to connect with people and contribute positively to the team and patient experience.
Most importantly, you are:
* Friendly and confident communicating with people
* Comfortable taking initiative
* Organised and adaptable
* Interested in fashion, eyewear, and styling
* Creative and happy to contribute ideas
* Looking for a long‐term opportunity within a supportive practice
Experience with social media content or posting is highly regarded, though not essential.
