About the Role
Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader Water and Sewer to lead operational crews responsible for the maintenance and repair of Council's water and sewer infrastructure. Reporting to the Civil Coordinator, this role provides hands‐on leadership, coordination and supervision of daily operations while fostering a strong safety culture, high performance, and continuous improvement within the team. You will work closely with maintenance planning teams to manage workloads efficiently and ensure service excellence for the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate a high‐performing, safety‐focused team with an open and collaborative communication style
* Plan, allocate and supervise daily repair and maintenance activities across water assets
* Coordinate workloads, job assignments and close‐outs to meet operational targets
* Monitor team performance and report on operational metrics
* Use technology and systems for communication, data capture and asset maintenance reporting
* Provide coaching, mentoring and training to develop a multi‐skilled workforce
* Promote problem solving, innovation and continuous improvement
* Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and the public to deliver excellent customer service
* Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety, environmental and risk management requirements
About You
You are a strong people leader with extensive hands‐on experience in the water industry, with a practical approach to safety, quality outcomes and service delivery.
Essential Requirements
* Demonstrated experience leading water infrastructure maintenance teams or projects
* Extensive experience in water and sewer operations, including supervisory responsibilities
* High level of technical skill in maintaining water services and pipe infrastructure
* Well‐developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
* Sound computer skills and confidence using technology for reporting and data collection
* Current QLD C Class Driver Licence
* General Construction Safety (White/Blue) Card
Desirable
* Level 3 Water Industry Worker qualification

Additional Information
