The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is seeking applications to fill a position as a Risk and Compliance Officer with the Shared Services Branch.
Role purposeReporting to the Risk and Regulatory Compliance Manager, the Risk and Compliance Officer serves as the primary support for handling the day-to-day administration and providing the first line of support to the business. This purpose of this role is to:Support VIT’s risk management function, including by assisting in the review and update of the Institute’s Risk Management Framework to ensure consistent application across the Institute.Support the delivery of the Audit Risk Management Finance Committee function and ensure it is provided with the information required to achieve its purpose.Support the Risk and Regulatory Compliance Manager in the operation of VIT’s internal audit program, including by monitoring and verifying completion of recommendations.

Key accountabilitiesThe Risk and Compliance Officer will be required to:Support the execution of strategies related to risk management initiatives:Foster collaboration between branches to ensure a cohesive approach to risk managementCollaborate with users and risk owners to input and monitor risks, controls and actions. The development / and or review of presentations, resources and communications to stakeholders.Work within a team-based environment to support VIT staff to monitor VIT’s internal audit program, including by the:Support of branches in the preparation and completion of internal audits. Coordinate the collation of evidence for internal audits. Monitoring progress of actions and recommendations with updates from responsible officers.Manage the timely preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes, and other documentation as required to the Audit Risk Management Finance Committee.Prepare reports on audit and assurance functions to the Audit Risk Management Finance Committee, Council and other forums as required.Support the completion of regulatory obligationsMaintain VIT’s incident management system, including the response and escalation as appropriate to incident notifications.Analyse data and develop reports ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and user-friendly presentation for ease of understanding.Manage specialist projects as required by the Shared Services Team.Develop policies as required to ensure compliance with government regulations.Develop and distribute reports for various levels of the organisation as required.Maintain records and registers in respect of all of VIT’s internal audit, risk management and Audit Risk Management Finance Committee actions and recommendations.
Key selection criteriaTechnical skillsA demonstrated understanding of risk management framework including ISO 31000 in a State government context.Experience in providing high level administrative coordination as well as a demonstrated ability to prepare presentations, reports and briefing papers for the technical and executive level and handle a high volume and broad range of complex and sensitive matters.Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

QualificationsExperience with risk management and/or internal audit within a government context would be well regarded.
