- Remuneration: $97,385.69 (pro-rata) + 11.5% super + NFP salary packaging

Your part in our UnitingCare team

We are currently seeking to appoint a Family and Child Counsellor to work as a part of our UnitingCare’s Community Mental Health program in Caboolture on a part time permanent term basis of 38 hours per fortnight, with an hourly rate of $49.28 (level 5.1) or fortnightly $3,745.60 pro-rata.

This position provides to increase stability of out of home care placements by providing therapeutic support to children/young people and their carers at times of emotional distress or where they cause disruption to the child/young person’s living situation.

The program counsellor preferably uses the Child-Centred Play Therapy model for younger children (up to age 13/14) and Talk Therapy, Art Therapy and Expressive Therapies for older children to effect meaningful change in the family's life through providing trauma-informed and child-led support and guidance. Psycho-edcuation for carers is an important part of the role and requires the counsellor to guide and often gently challenge entrenched parenting believes and strategies in a compassionate and strength-based way.

You will be able to provide individual therapy including skills development to children and young people who may have experienced issues including but not limited to, domestic and family violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, attachment issues, relationship discord and grief and loss.

In addition to the above you will also be required to have:
- Possession of a Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution and demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through substantial experience in a similar role.- Current Drivers Licence- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) What makes a difference for you?
