This role is an exciting opportunity to work within our Portfolio Management and Assurance team within the Policy, Strategy and Governance division. Portfolio Management and Assurance (PMA) is a centralised Portfolio Management Office (PMO) that manages and supports the investment portfolio and lifecycle for DCS. That means we: Manage the DCS portfolio of projects across several partner agencies, worth billions of dollars Guide and support projects and programs from idea stage through to close out and benefits realisation, helping to deliver them in a best practice way and achieve their intended outcomes and benefits Our mission is to become a trusted customer centric service provider, enabling agencies to deliver personalised digital experiences to NSW and this vacancy will provide a pivotal role in achieving this. Your responsibilities will include: Embedding the central Portfolio Management and Assurance strategy and project management framework, best practices, standards, tools and systems to drive successful project outcomes Oversee the portfolio project performance to meet requirements including internal portfolio performance monitoring, analysis, reporting and assurance Embedding best practice governance across the DCS investment lifecycle to inform fair, consistent and transparent decision making Maintain collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with agency PMOs, Programs, Project Managers, key stakeholders and internal teams to uplift project management capabilities Lead working groups, committees, and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support the uplift of localised diverse practices across the DCS projects and delivery community Maintain a central body of project delivery information (frameworks, guidelines, templates etc.) Provide support and advice to project teams across the delivery lifecycle focused on alignment with the project management framework, guidelines and governance best practices Prepare reporting and presentations for committees and working groups and other executive and stakeholder audience reports as required. About you We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a background in project or portfolio management and looking to take the next step in their career. In this role, you’ll bring: Strong project delivery experience, ideally in a PMO, portfolio, program, or project management team, who was responsible for setting and supporting governance, performance, project accounting and reporting requirements Project management skills and experience with a sound understanding of best practices across the project management lifecycle Problem solving skills and can demonstrate the ability to breakdown complex problems and drive pragmatic solutions that are simple and easy to understand and follow High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefings, reports and correspondence for senior audiences The ability to provide high level specialist advice and insights to stakeholders and senior leaders across all Portfolio Governance matters Strong communication and negotiation skills, able to engage diverse audiences, manage expectations, and build consensus around shared outcomes A strong understanding of project accounting within the context of NSW Government and can provide sound governance advice on related matters Strategic thinking and problem solving skills with a practical mindset, using research and analysis to guide decisions and improve systems Strong leadership capability to guide and mentor a team; foster innovation and embed continuous improvement in project delivery Prior knowledge of government processes, governance and whole of NSW government project approval and delivery frameworks will be (highly regarded but not essential) If you are a team player who can demonstrate strong project management and project accounting experience as well as excellent stakeholder management, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively manage competing demands and priorities, this may be the next career challenge you have been hoping for.
