The Team:

Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRM) is a core statewide clinical service under the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework. Services provided include:
* Critical care responses from Hobart and Launceston bases to provide pre-hospital and in-facility treatment and interfacility transport for seriously sick and injured patients.
* A Critical Care Management Advice Service (CCMAS), offering emergency management advice to paramedics, doctors, and nurses, and coordinating high-risk interfacility transfers.
* Medical coordination and on-scene support for mass casualty incidents and disasters.
* System-wide quality improvement activities such as incident review, policy development, and professional training.
The Role:

The Director of Medical Education and Training is a Specialist Medical Practitioner providing a specialist PHRM service through shift work and on-call duties.

Additional responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategies for medical education and training in CCR.
* Developing and coordinating medical education and training programs, focusing on preparing and credentialing specialists for PHRM practice.
* Ensuring recruitment, appointment, credentialing, and employment processes comply with legislative and Award standards.
* Supporting the Medical Director AMR in managing Critical Care Services.
* Acting as Medical Director CCR when needed.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part-time, shift work (fully rotational), including on-call, 28.5 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.

Note: Hours are negotiable.

Applicants should note that this selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for up to twelve months from the date of advertisement.

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3, $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro-rata, plus 11.5% superannuation and salary packaging options.

Access to the higher salary range ($300,216 - $310,389) depends on meeting criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner levels as per the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
* Salary range is aligned with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Additional benefits include:
* Salary packaging up to $9,010 for living expenses and $2,650 for meals and entertainment annually.
* Motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro-rata.
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme at 35% or allowance in lieu.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro-rata.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
* Credentialing eligibility with the Tasmanian Health Service in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, or Intensive Care.
* Good physical fitness and swimming ability to operate safely in pre-hospital and aeromedical settings, including HUET training.
* Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable criteria include:
* Qualification in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine.
* Experience in teaching, research, quality improvement, and service development.
* Current work in high-acuity clinical environments.
* All essential registration/licences must remain current and valid, with the employee responsible for maintaining them and notifying the employer of any changes.
