Who we are
Our Aboriginal Health & Wellbeing Directorate provides culturally safe and accessible programs and services in the Riverina region.
In addition to providing a service to inpatients and clients individually, we offer several programs and services that Aboriginal Health staff within the Murrumbidgee LHD are trained in and responsible for implementing.
What you'll be doing
You will be working alongside a Midwife to deliver culturally safe, flexible antenatal care and social and emotional support for Aboriginal women in the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service.
In this role, you will:
* Provide nonclinical advocacy, support, liaison and health promotion services in community and hospital settings.
* Facilitate access to government and nongovernment services to meet the social, emotional and cultural needs of clients.
* Deliver holistic, culturally sensitive care to Aboriginal women and their families.
* Provide clinical services within your defined Scope of Practice.
* Work alongside a midwife deliver culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal care.
* Act as a cultural broker, supporting Aboriginal patients to navigate the health system.
* Contribute as part of a collaborative, supportive healthcare team.
Criteria
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
* This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
* NSW Working with Children Check.
* NSW Driver License and ability and willingness travel for work purposes.
* Aboriginal Health Practitioners must be registered with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.
