Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the primary outcome for this role is to aid managerial financial planning and decision-making ensuring sustainability of the Bureau and appropriate use of Commonwealth resources. This is achieved through analysis of key financial performance information, identifying and implementing current, medium- and long-term financial strategies.
A critical part of the role is developing a rapport with relevant Bureau staff to communicate financial information in plain English, providing advice and ensuring compliance with relevant government policies and accounting standards.
Development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships across the Bureau are essential to building trust and confidence in the occupant of this role. The occupant will bring confident communications skills, expertise in Commonwealth government financial frameworks, deep understanding of Commonwealth Government external budgets, internal budget management, forecasts, variance reporting, financial management as well as leadership to the finance team.
Leading and developing a high performing team is a rewarding component of this role. Experience in the establishment of functions and teams will be a benefit to this role as the Bureau looks to mature its finance function, systems and capability.
