Situated in the northern Perth suburb of Balga, the school serves a vibrant and highly multicultural community, with over 85% of students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English (LBOTE). Majella also hosts an onsite Intensive English Centre (IEC) for students in Years 1–6 who are developing their English language skills. The school is strongly committed to trauma-informed practices and the holistic wellbeing of students.Position Duration: This maternity leave replacement position is anticipated to continue until the end of Term 2, 2026.Selection CriteriaCommitment to the ethos and values of Catholic education, with the ability to integrate Gospel values into teaching practice.Experience or demonstrated ability in teaching Year 1 or junior primary, with a sound understanding of early childhood development.Ability to plan and deliver differentiated, engaging programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum.Knowledge and use of evidence-based strategies in early literacy and numeracy instruction.Capacity to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment using trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Education Assistants, and families.Experience in or commitment to working in a multicultural school setting.Willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to the broader school community.Qualifications RequiredHold a recognised teaching qualification.Be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).Hold or be working towards Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School through Catholic Education WA (CEWA).Meet statutory requirements, including a Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.Catholic Education Western Australia encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, people of all ages and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
