Community Engagement Officer - DRR Outreach

About the Don River Railway:

The Don River Railway (DRR), operated by The Van Diemen Light Railway Society Inc., is a beloved heritage railway and a premier tourist attraction in Tasmania, dedicated to recreating living railway history. Our connection with the local community, our members, and our volunteers is fundamental to our success and ongoing sustainability. We are actively working to revitalise our volunteer base and strengthen our local presence.


The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Community Engagement Officer to volunteer their skills in building and nurturing relationships between DRR and our various stakeholders. This is a crucial role for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for community building, and an interest in heritage. You will be responsible for coordinating outreach activities, fostering volunteer involvement, and ensuring DRR remains a valued part of the regional community.


Key Responsibilities & Duties

* Develop and implement strategies to engage with DRR members, volunteers, and the wider local community.
* Coordinate community outreach events, volunteer recruitment drives, and public information sessions.
* Act as a key point of contact for community inquiries and feedback.
* Promote DRR's mission, projects, and volunteer opportunities to diverse audiences.
* Assist with communication efforts to keep the community informed about DRR news and events.
* Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team, Board, and other volunteers.
* Adhere strictly to all DRR policies and communication guidelines.
* Contribute to a positive and welcoming public image for DRR.

Mandatory induction. Orientation to DRR's community engagement strategy and policies.
