Sedgman is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Brisbane.
What does this role involve?
As the Senior Controls Engineer, you will provide services at a senior level, planning and coordinating complex engineering design assignments. This includes developing technical specifications, detailed planning, and recommending changes to specifications or engineering processes as appropriate.
* Provide leadership and supervise the control system design team, ensuring quality, completion, and profit objectives are met.
* Define and recommend design methods, specifications, and performance criteria for new projects.
* Prepare feasibility studies, reports, design layouts, system diagrams, calculations, specifications, bills of quantities, materials lists, and cost estimates for processing plant control systems.
* Provide drafting staff with necessary information to produce models and detailed logic drawings for mineral processing.
* Conduct site inspections and liaise with suppliers, clients, consultants, or commissioning engineers regarding design, installation, construction, and commissioning.
* Implement detailed engineering design, software programming, testing, and commissioning of process control systems.
* Ensure project KPIs related to time and cost are achieved by monitoring design effectiveness, scheduling, resource requirements, and compliance with plans and client expectations.
* Contribute to periodic reporting on project progress, resources, budgets, priorities, and team needs.
* Review designs for accuracy and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and Sedgman standards.
* Follow Change Management processes for engineering design.
* Handle estimating, budgeting, and basic document control.
* Be flexible to travel to sites as required.
* Promote new initiatives in architecture and technology within the industry.
About You:
You will be self-motivated, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a busy environment. You should think innovatively and drive solutions to problems. Flexibility to travel is essential.
* Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Software, or Computer).
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in design, consultancy, or commissioning within the coal, metals, or mineral processing industries.
* Experience with PLC architecture (Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens) design, configuration, and programming.
* Proficiency in SCADA systems (Citect SCADA, FactoryTalk View).
* Knowledge of industrial networks architecture and IT/OT integration.
* Experience with the functional safety lifecycle for software design, validation, and verification.
* Proficient in MS Office suite.
