This well-established, locally owned legal practice is seeking a mature, motivated and experienced Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary to join their team. Located in inner suburbs of Newcastle, this firm appears to operate on plenty of old-fashioned values – Respect. Flexibility. Support. Honesty.

About This Opportunity
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing all administrative aspects of legal matters, including:
Drafting, formatting, and preparing correspondence, court documents, briefs, and other legal materials
Managing diaries, coordinating appointments, and monitoring emails to ensure efficient workflow
Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in both electronic and paper formats
Liaising and communicating effectively with clients, counsel, courts, and other third parties
Assisting with billing processes, matter management, and general administrative tasks
Providing proactive support to lawyers and the wider team to ensure all deadlines are met
Performing general office administration and contributing to the smooth operation of daily practice
Working closely with the firm's solicitors and lawyers, you will be encouraged to continually develop your experiences and skills. A mentor is never far away.
About You & Your Experiences
You will be an experienced and proactive Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative support.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary, with hands-on file management experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in liaising with clients, counsel, and other stakeholders
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to document accuracy
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal practice management systems (experience with LEAP will be highly regarded)
A collaborative and professional attitude, with a genuine interest in supporting your team and contributing to a positive workplace culture
Prior experience in personal injury law will be viewed favourably but not essential
Remuneration & How To Apply
An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate but as a guide only, a salary in the range of $75,000 to $87,000 plus superannuation can be expected.
