Your Position at St John of God Bendigo Hospital
You will be required to perform work of a complex nature under the supervision of a grade 3 or 4 Theatre Technician or delegated Manager, rotating through all Operating Lists in the hospital.
They will function without direct supervision but under the supervision of Grade 3 or 4 Theatre Technicians and will be assisted in learning and developing in this role by these more senior staff members.
The Position- Focus on professional development to maintain standards of care- Prepare the Operating Room for each surgical and endoscopic procedure, ensuring the necessary furniture, equipment, appliances and supplies are at hand and working efficiently.- Carry out necessary checks on technical equipment prior to operating lists. Seek assistance as required.- Assist in safe transfer of patients to and from the Wards to Holding Bays and to Theatres and correctly position of patients to and from the theatre table.- Ensure monitoring equipment is correctly positioned and set for the anticipated surgery and be available to trouble shoot technical problems related to same, or to source assistance if required.- Is aware of and maintains the aseptic field during surgery.- Carry out all necessary cleaning before and between all cases in individual OR'S and Theatre Suite in general. Refers to duty statements and hospital cleaning/restocking protocols necessary.
You will have Certificate III in Operating Theatre Technician and at least 12 months full time theatre experience as a Theatre Technician.
To succeed you will have understanding of legislation and standards related to OH&S, Compliance issue & Workcover.
