Browns Plains State School a vibrant and inclusive Prep to Year 6 community in Logan, is seeking a Family Support Coordinator to join our team. Our school partners with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, guided by our values of Always Learning, Always Respectful, Always Safe. In this exciting initiative, you will work with teachers, specialist staff, and community partners to support children's transition to school, build positive attendance patterns, with a focus on the Prep - Year 2, and connect families with health, therapeutic, and social services.

Your Role
As the Family Support Coordinator, you will play a vital role in helping children and their families transition into and thrive in the P-2 years.

Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

* You will work closely with classroom teachers, aides, specialist staff, and school leaders to understand each child's needs and family context. Drawing on this knowledge, you will connect families with external supports including health professionals, allied therapies, early intervention programs, and community-based agencies.
* Your focus will be on removing barriers to participation whether related to attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, or learning engagement so that every child has the best chance to succeed.
* You will support children and families, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, First Nations families, young people in care, and children with disability or complex needs.
* You will demonstrate cultural awareness, trauma-informed practice, and an understanding of the cognitive challenges faced by some parents. Recognising that families come in all shapes and sizes, you will tailor support to build capacity and celebrate strengths, ensuring families feel respected, included, and empowered.
* This role also involves advocating for families, strengthening communication between home and school, and supporting positive attendance and engagement. Your relational skills, life experience, and well-organised approach will enable you to connect with a wide variety of people and ensure the school community remains inclusive, connected, and supportive.

About You
Our Ideal candidate will be:

* Be compassionate, culturally aware, and skilled at building trust with families and community agencies.
* Have a understanding of complex factors that can affect engagement with school and approach families with empathy, patience, and solutions-focused thinking. You recognise the diversity of families and adapt your practice to ensure inclusivity and respect.
* Highly relational, able to connect with parents, carers, children, staff, and service providers in ways that foster trust and collaboration.
* Well-organised and adaptable, you manage multiple priorities while coordinating support across agencies.
* Have a grounded perspective, and you are confident working both independently and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of the Logan region and local service providers is highly regarded, as is experience working in culturally responsive ways with First Nations peoples. Ultimately, you are motivated by the opportunity to build bridges between schools, families, and communities, and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
