 
        
        Overview 
Medical Co-Director – Medical Division – Perth Children’s Hospital & Neonatology. Part time 0.5 FTE (40 hours), fixed term 5 years. Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, WA. Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia is required, as is a Western Australia Working with Children Check. WA Health policies require criminal records screening and integrity checks as part of the appointment process. 
Key Responsibilities 
- Provide effective medical leadership in clinical governance, safety, quality improvement, strategic planning, optimal resource allocation and reform, in collaboration with the Medical & Nurse Co-Directors and the Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology executive team. 
- Mentor and support Heads of Department and foster collaboration across Clinicians and Departments for safe and effective care of patients and families. 
- Manage clinical demand, understand workload and workforce pressures, and contribute to growing and sustaining an exceptional workforce. 
- Support development of advanced practice nursing roles and junior medical roles to build the next generation of professionals; ensure evidence-based practice and research-driven clinical advancements. 
- Ensure safe, high-quality standards of clinical practice and manage clinical and corporate risk, including coordinating education and training for medical staff to meet accreditation standards. 
- Provide mentorship and support to staff, promoting a culture of patient safety and family-centred care. 
- Ensure business continuity and emergency planning for the division. 
- Develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across public and private sectors, universities, professional colleges and other health bodies at state and national levels, representing the service unit’s goals positively and effectively. 
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications 
- Significant experience in professional clinical leadership and management of clinical services within a large, complex, acute health service. 
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
- Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and navigate complex decision making in a multi-disciplinary environment. 
- Commitment to patient safety, family-centred care and advancing clinical care through education and research.
