Your opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Housing Officer to support families and individuals in achieving their goals within a safe and secure environment. This role plays a vital part in helping tenants access education, employment, and long-term stable housing while fostering independence and wellbeing. * Assist tenants in transitioning to long-term stable housing and connecting with appropriate support services.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with service providers, community partners, and other stakeholders to enhance tenant outcomes.
* Ensure confidentiality and compliance with Mission Australia policies, procedures, statutory requirements, and contractual obligations.
* Manage tenancy records, rent arrears, property maintenance, and case management data using Mission Australia systems.
* Collaborate with colleagues, participate in multi-agency case meetings, and engage in continuous professional development.

Requirements for success

* Relevant degree with at least one year of experience, an Associate Diploma with relevant experience, or a less formal qualification with substantial relevant experience.
* Minimum of 12 months' experience working with a diverse range of tenants, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with knowledge of Aboriginal cultural systems and protocols.
* Strong understanding of issues related to housing instability and homelessness.
* Knowledge of resources, organisations, and agencies that support people experiencing barriers to stable housing.
* Experience working with people facing challenges such as family and domestic violence, mental and physical health issues, substance use, and social or cultural obligations.
* Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use Mission Australia's web-based information management systems.
* Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Effective time management skills, with the ability to exercise judgment and manage multiple tasks.

* Rewarding work – every day you know you're making a real difference
* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax

* Volunteering opportunities
* Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
* Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off
