Garden of Goodness is one of Australia's fastest-growing certified-organic, wholefood ready-meal producers. We're looking for a highly skilled hands-on Production Supervisor with strong chefing experience who can confidently lead a team while actively cooking, prepping, and contributing to menu innovation and food technologies.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, this full-time role oversees the day-to-day operations of our busy kitchen and production facility. You'll balance leadership and hands-on execution —jumping onto the tools to cook, batch, prep and troubleshoot while guiding the team toward daily production targets.
This role suits a qualified chef who thrives in both structured production environments and creative menu development, and who values quality, efficiency, food safety and organic integrity.
What You'll Be Doing
Kitchen Production (Primary Focus)
* Hands‑on cooking, batching, food preparation and recipe execution
* Maintain consistency in flavour, texture, portioning, and presentation
* Troubleshoot issues relating to texture, yield, moisture, or batch variance
* Support the team on the production line during peak periods
Leadership & Operations
* Lead, supervise, and empower chefs and production assistants
* Oversee, lead and monitor production planning, scheduling and daily workflow
* Train staff on recipes, production standards, and food safety
* Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and WHS regulations
* Implement and Monitor inventory processes; stock levels, expiring goods, and ordering requirements
* Implement and refine production processes to improve output and efficiency
* Collaborate with other department leads to optimise production and support the overall success of the business
Menu Development
* Assist with new product development and menu innovation
* Conduct food analysis: texture, stability, yield, batch scaling, shelf‑life observations
* Support packaging and process optimisation trials
* Complete all required documentation and contribute to continuous improvement
* Recommend ingredient or process adjustments to enhance quality and efficiency
What we're looking for
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar production supervisory role within the food manufacturing industry
* Formal qualifications in commercial cookery or food technology, with chef experience highly regarded
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision‑making skills to identify and resolve production issues
* Strong leadership and people management capabilities to motivate and develop your team
* In‑depth knowledge of food safety, quality and workplace health and safety regulations and standards
* Proficient in using production management systems and data analysis tools
