About the role
The Senior Social Worker / Senior Practice Lead sits within the Community and City Services Division and offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialist support to families while leading and strengthening practice across the team.
This role plays a key part in delivering positive outcomes for families, children and young people in our community, while contributing to the strategic goals of the City of Melbourne.
As part of Family and Children's Services, you'll work within an integrated service model alongside Family Health, Parenting Services, Family Support and Counselling and Children's Services. You'll play a leadership role in ensuring families receive inclusive, holistic and culturally safe support, while also building team capability through secondary consultations, mentoring and practice development.

* Provide casework, assessment and support for families with children aged 0–17 years
* Deliver practice leadership, supervision and secondary consultations with colleagues and students
* Contribute to program planning, community engagement and service development initiatives
* Ensure services are culturally safe, inclusive and aligned with principles of diversity, equity and inclusion

About you
You are a skilled practitioner and leader who thrives on supporting families, strengthening practice, and empowering others to succeed. You bring professionalism, cultural awareness, collaboration and partnership to everything you do.
You may also be:
* An experienced social worker or allied health professional with strong casework expertise
* Passionate about family wellbeing and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
What your experience might look like
* Bachelor/Master of Social Work (AASW recognised) or alternative allied health qualifications with extensive experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of child development, family intervention models and relevant legislation (e.g. Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, Child Safe Standards)
* Highly developed skills in assessment, casework and case management with families experiencing vulnerability
* Strong experience working with culturally diverse communities and in areas such as family violence, mental health and trauma
* Proven ability to supervise, mentor and provide practice leadership with staff and students
