As part of the Organisational Development (OD) Program, the People Connect Advisor / Graduate Coordinator is a member of the People Connect team responsible for Human Resource (HR) advice and services. Additionally, the position is responsible for timetable coordination for the Graduate Diploma in Meteorology, a ten-month accredited program conducted in the Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre (BMTC).
**PEOPLE CONNECT ADVISOR ROLE**
The People Connect Advisor will be the first point of contact to review, triage and resolve HR ticket enquiries in the Cherwell Service Management tool. As a key member of the People Connect team, they will enable and deliver an outstanding end user experience for Bureau staff and people managers, through the provision of HR advice and initiatives, reporting, quality assurance of payroll activities and HR data and system improvement initiatives.
The Advisor will need to have knowledge of:
- Recruitment policies, procedures and requirements - including onboarding and offboarding processes
- Pay and conditions including leave, allowances and general employee relations processes
- Analyse and update SAP HR data, assist with the identification of patterns and trends analysis of enquiries to support improvements to HR self-service products and services
**GRADUATE COORDINATOR ROLE**
The Graduate Coordinator will be responsible for timetabling the Bureau's Graduate Diploma in Meteorology, a ten-month accredited program attended by personnel from the Bureau, Royal Australian Navy, overseas National Meteorology and Hydrological Services and private meteorological providers. They will deliver an outstanding experience to teaching staff and graduates, through the provision of timetabling (including monitoring teaching staff availability, overtime, Temporary Assignment of Duties, and contract processing) and the onboarding and offboarding of graduates.
The Coordinator will need to have knowledge of:
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel to facilitate timetabling (or other timetabling solution)
- Recruitment policies, procedures and requirements - including onboarding and offboarding processes
GENERAL
The People Connect Advisor / Graduate Coordinator reports directly to a People Connect Lead, with guidance from BMTC on support required for the Graduate Diploma in Meteorology, and is required to work closely in a team-based environment, with members of People Connect, BMTC and broader OD Program. The Advisor will contribute to the OD Service Delivery model through provision of advice, contributing to business improvement initiatives, may need to assist with the implementation and review of systems and the development of tools, policies and procedures.
The Advisor / Coordinator will be highly knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Excel (or other timetabling solutions), APS pay, conditions, and/or recruitment/payroll functions, have a strong SAP HR background, well developed communication skills and the ability to provide a strong, professional customer service.
The Advisor / Coordinator works collaboratively, follows process and procedures, and is reasonably autonomous, exercising a degree of independent judgement in making decisions within defined parameters. They provide advice that requires reliance on specialist HR skills, knowledge and expertise to resolve issues and enhance the customer experience. The People Connect Advisor / Graduate Coordinator plans their work in the context of competing priorities and contributes to and implements changes in workplace practices as required.
