Excavation and construction work often involves the use of stone or masonry surfaces. As a skilled craftsman, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring these types of surfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications to identify required materials and planned construction procedures.
* Set up and remove low height scaffolding to allow safe stonework.
* Prepare base surfaces by applying moisture-resistant treatments and laying mortar beds.
* Place pre-cut stones or masonry blocks in mortar according to layout plans.
* Align and level installed masonry work, verifying vertical and horizontal alignment.
* Use power and hand tools to cut, trim, shape, and finish stone blocks or slabs.
* Perform finishing work such as polishing stone surfaces and ensuring smooth, accurate surfaces.
* Carry out repair, maintenance, or restoration work on existing masonry, stone walls, or structures.
* Manufacture custom stone-work including carved elements or inscriptions.
* Install large stone slabs or structural masonry elements, ensuring structural stability and alignment.
