This position is full time for a 12-month Fixed Term.The Senior Product Technologist will provide the product innovation leadership to drive the portfolio of product development projects from concept to commercialisation in the market.You will work closely with Sales and Marketing to understand customer and consumer needs, creating products that will delight our consumers at the right price.This is a broad and challenging role which will require you to collaborate with both internal and external customers/suppliers and influence the business to grow and drive profit through a balanced portfolio of products across different channels, customers and markets.Key Responsibilities:New products developed from ideation through to implementation and launchAt ideation phase, work with commercial business leaders to explore consumer and customer insights and translate into product design specificationsDevelop product and processing solutions that are technically feasible in the supply chain networkExplore appropriate technology options available to commercially produce new product including assessment of in-house manufacture, investment or third-party arrangementsRapid prototyping of product design options to assess customer and consumer acceptance using appropriate consumer and sensory research methodsDevelop experimental trial plans to test new product hypotheses and validateDevelop documentation / Proof of ComplianceEnsure regulatory compliance for import into desired countries including product labelling, product testing, registrations, Halal and/or Kosher certification, and grading requirementsAudits and Control New product development and product change management to meet audit requirementsHealth, Safety, and Environmental PracticesDrive new product development solutions through the Stage and Gate processes ensuring all initiatives are visible, adequately resourced and prioritisedProject management coaching of teams as required to ensure the business is enabled and on track to deliver new product launch outcomesProject management of allocated new product projects through execution and launch phasesStructured approach towards stakeholder management including identification and implementation of appropriate strategies for managing and enlisting support for complex projectsProvide technical and product expertise to inform new product COGS with appropriate accuracy for project stageGenerate profit growth through balanced portfolio of profitable new product development across customers, channels and marketsEnsure competitive cost base through managing new product COGS within expectationsTechnical support for Business case developmentTechnical input into strategic sourcing decisions for packaging and raw materialsTechnical evaluation to support make vs. buy analysisEngagement within R&D team and external and internal stakeholders to drive outcomesDevelop cross-functional relationships and processes to new/improved products and cost savings opportunitiesContinually drive own personal development through application of robust development planMeet People Safety behaviours and targetsThe successful candidate will have:Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Innovation or similar technologyMinimum 5 years Food Technologist experience with specific knowledge of product development & manufacturing operations. Experience in fruit, vegetable or juice processing would be an advantage.Demonstrated technical experience in product and project management, as well as recipe development.Demonstration of ability to influence cross-functionally and manage stakeholders to achieve product development outcomes. Strong working relationships with marketing & operations teams.Strong project management and change management ability.Ability to employ the most appropriate product development and trial processesKnowledge of local and export food regulations, product claims and labelling informationAbility to understand product cost drivers and impact on profit and lossAbility to deal with ambiguity working on many initiatives across a multi-year horizonExperience working with NPD Stage & Gate processes critical.Our Culture:Our employees come from all walks of life, across many cultures and backgrounds.
