Upper Hopkins Land Management Group (UHLMG) is seeking a part-time Landcare Facilitator (0.45 EFT/18 hours per week).
As a Landcare Facilitator, you'll support a wide variety of community environmental projects and work with a range of people from farmers and volunteers through to school children. It's a rewarding role for someone who values the local landscape and the people in it.
The UHLMG is seeking a Landcare Facilitator to support both the Upper Hopkins Land Management Group and Ararat Landcare Group Executive and Committee to build capacity and resilience, and to enable these groups to undertake works that protect, enhance and restore the land and natural environment.
The Landcare Facilitator role has a strong focus on building group capacity, rather than dependency, to enable these two groups to remain sustainable.
The role will support Landcare groups through a mix of remote coordination and face-to-face field engagement.
Community engagement experience, basic natural resource management knowledge, communication skills, stakeholder management, planning and project management and computer literacy are required, along with a collaborative, engaging approach. Previous experience working with Landcare, Friends of groups, or other environmental volunteer groups, is highly desirable.
The role will involve working with Landcare groups and rural landholders and has six key work areas:
* Supporting the development of on-ground natural resource management projects.
* Securing project grants and other funding.
* Community engagement, collaboration and partnership building.
* Building local community capacity to enable groups, networks and communities to be resilient.
* Assisting with planning and priority setting processes.
* Assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
This position is funded by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Victorian Landcare Facilitator Program.
Term: Position is funded until 30 June 2027 with the option to extend at UHLMG's discretion (0.45 EFT/18 hours per week).
Remuneration: $40 per hour plus super and allowances.
Commences: as soon as practicable.
Location: Flexible/Work from home flexibility based in or near Ararat Rural City Region.
Travel: Regular travel within the Landcare Region required for community/site visits. The nature of community volunteer work may require occasional attendance at evening meetings or weekend events.
Australian work rights are required for this position.
Education: Qualification(s) in community development, science, agriculture, natural resource management or a similar field and/or at least three years relevant experience is highly desirable.
Experience: facilitation, communication, community engagement, planning, computer and organisational skills.
Requirements: Demonstrated ability to self-manage and work independently. Current driver's license and access to a private vehicle for travel is essential.
