Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working as part of the Marine Services team, this role supports vessel operations and port maintenance at Port Pirie and other ports as required.
You will join an existing group of equally motivated individuals and your main responsibility to complete tasks such as:
* Maintain and operate Flinders Ports launches for pilot transfer, minor maintenance and servicing of main engines and ancillary equipment;
* Responsible for using Oil Pollution response equipment as necessary under the direction of Transport SA or Flinders Ports emergency response coordinators;
* Prepare statistics and reports of craft activities and performance;
* Assist with maintenance of port assets as required (e.g. navigation aids);
* Provide short term relief Launch Master service in other ports as required;
* Participate in safe mooring of vessels as port of a Mooring Team;
* Operate mooring related aides such as capstans and vehicles to assist in the safe berthing of vessels; and
* Other Launch related duties as requested.
Although your working week will comprise of 38 hours, after-hours work will be required as a part of this role and as such flexibility to work with ever-changing shipping demands is expected.
About you
* Master Class V Certificate of Competency;
* Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 of Competency;
* Valid Driver's Licence;
* Administrative expertise and strong computer literacy using Maximo asset management, Microsoft Office or Similar;
* Ability and experience working both independently and in teams;
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
* High level of attention to detail and problem solving;
* Outcome driven with the ability to work under pressure; and
* Already hold, or be eligible for, a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC). This involves obtaining a National Police Check.
Desirable
Having a Mechanical trade qualification or Mechanical experience as well as a Forklift or Bobcat Licence is desirable (not essential), as well as previous experience working on boats as a deckhand or experience in a maritime or seagoing position.
