Overview
Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NG Council) is the largest and most complex Indigenous organisation in Western Australia, and among the largest nationally. Employing approximately 450 FTE (circa 800 staff overall), NCG delivers a wide range of essential services across vast and remote regions of the State.
This complex and multi-faceted organisation operates across health, community services, infrastructure (including power, water and roads), housing and tenancy, land and culture and a broad portfolio of commercial operations. NG Council plays a critical role in supporting Yarnangu communities and is widely regarded as one of the most established and impactful Indigenous organisations in Australia.
Based in Perth, the Group operates in a uniquely complex and geographically dispersed environment, combining community purpose with significant commercial and operational scale.
The Position
In what can be considered a "continuity‐plus‐uplift" appointment, you will report directly to the CEO as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction and next phase of the organisation. As the Chief Financial and Corporate Services Officer, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Providing executive leadership across finance, treasury, risk, IT, payroll, transactional finance and company secretarial portfolios.
* Leading a corporate services team of approximately 40 people, predominantly Perth-based.
* Partnering closely with the CEO and Board on financial strategy, governance, risk and long-term sustainability.
* Providing advice on investments, capital allocation and commercial decision-making across multiple entities.
* Embeding, stabilising and optimising recent organisational transformation initiatives
* Leading the effective embedding of MYOB Acumatica across the Group.
* Strengthening financial reporting, controls, consistency and business-partnering capability.
* Supporting the ongoing professionalisation of corporate services in a large, decentralised organisation.
* Engaging directly with operational teams and communities, including regular travel to remote regions.
About You
You will be a commercially astute and resilient senior finance leader with proven experience of operating within large and complex organisations. The NG Council welcomes applicants from all industry sectors, with particular interest in candidates who have worked in commercial or industrial environments, or across multiple and remote locations. You will bring sound judgement and the capability to operate effectively within a purpose‐driven environment. Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate:
* Professional accounting qualifications (CA / CPA or equivalent)
* Proven senior financial leadership experience, ideally at CFO or equivalent level
* Strong commercial acumen and experience working with multiple entities and investments
* A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style with a focus on capability uplift and continuous improvement
* The confidence and credibility to partner closely with a CEO and Board
* The personal resilience, self-motivation and adaptability required to operate in a highly complex, decentralised and cross-cultural environment
