Your new roleA unique opportunity exists for an experienced ICT Portfolio Manager to operate at a senior strategic level within a complex government environment. This is not a traditional program delivery role — instead, you will provide portfolio-level oversight, governance, and assurance across multiple concurrent ICT initiatives, ensuring alignment to broader reform objectives and organisational priorities. You will work closely with senior executives and governance boards, providing independent advice, managing risks and dependencies, and enabling confident decision-making across a diverse and evolving ICT landscape.
Key responsibilities
•Providing oversight and assurance across multiple ICT projects and initiatives
•Advising senior stakeholders on prioritisation, risks, dependencies and delivery confidence
•Translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical decision-makers
•Monitoring delivery performance and intervening where required to resolve issues or escalate decisions
•Driving portfolio alignment to ensure individual initiatives contribute to strategic outcomes
•Influencing cross-functional teams without direct delivery accountability
What you'll need to succeed
•Proven experience in ICT portfolio management, governance or assurance roles
•Strong ability to engage and influence senior executive stakeholders and boards
•Demonstrated capability to operate across complex, multi-program environments
•Solid understanding of ICT systems, architecture, and delivery life cycles
•Ability to translate technical information into plain English for non-technical audiences
•Experience managing risk, dependencies and prioritisation across competing initiatives
•Proven leadership capability, particularly influencing teams without direct authority
