Commercial and Employment Lawyer - Baseline Clearance - $1040 to $1400 daily rate inc super - initial 3 month secondment with possible extension - Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney locations available
The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial and Employment Lawyer to provide legal advice and support to a Corporate Legal Services Team.
The Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience in advising on, drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating a range of commercial and employment law matters relevant to the Commonwealth.
This is a senior position and will require the seconded lawyer to be responsible for:
* leading and providing professional guidance to a small team of lawyers responsible for advising on a range of employment and commercial matters, including by setting priorities, managing resources; and
* providing and coordinating expert legal advice to senior managers and executives on a broad range of complex commercial and employment law matters, including:
o advice on complex procurements and contracts (under the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) legislation), including for ICT and other services;
o advice on a range of employment and workplace relations matters in a dynamic and sensitive environment, including advice in response to employment-related claims;
o legal review and advice in relation to key policies and legislation applicable to the entity's procurement, employment and workplace obligations as well as in relation to contracts disputes, advertising and media campaigns and on intellectual property (IP) licensing, and memoranda of understandings (MOUs).
The Requirements
Extensive experience working on a range of commercial and employment law matters relevant to the Commonwealth would be highly regarded.
Legal qualifications, a Baseline clearance and a current practicing certificate is essential.
