The Opportunity
Due to continual growth, we are now seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Product/ Mechanical to lead and grow our mechanical engineering capability and drive the successful delivery of complex product development initiatives.
This is a senior leadership role with global impact, responsible for people leadership, engineering excellence, and the delivery of safe, compliant, high‐quality products that meet customer and business needs.
Reporting to the Australian Head of Product Engineering, you will oversee mechanical engineering operations across the full product lifecycle, providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and people leadership to a high-performing team.
You will work closely with Product Management, Production, and cross‐functional stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions align with product strategy, stage‐gate requirements, and customer expectations, with an emphasis on sensors, tools and deployment systems focused on Rock Knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and guide mechanical engineering teams in design approaches, problem-solving, and product development.
* Provide technical leadership across engineering disciplines, ensuring robust design, verification and validation practices.
* Support transition of new products from development into efficient and scalable production; whilst supporting existing products already in the Imdex portfolio.
* Oversee delivery of small to medium-scale engineering projects within approved scope, budget, and schedule.
* Ensure effective input to project planning, resource allocation and resolution of technical and delivery risks.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a globally connected engineering team.
* Communicate a clear vision and create a shared sense of purpose.
* Manage performance, development planning, recruitment, and succession.
* Foster a culture of engagement, learning, and continuous improvement.
* Champion Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) standards across the team.
What You'll Bring
You are a confident and inclusive engineering leader with strong commercial awareness and a passion for developing people and products. You bring both deep mechanical engineering, whilst being knowledgeable in other engineering disciplines to ensure delivery of the whole product. You will demonstrate expertise and the ability to lead teams through complexity and change, as well as have a profound understanding of the whole development cycle of a product.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum 15 years' experience in mechanical engineering roles.
* At least 5 years' experience leading engineering teams.
* Experience with SolidWorks and associated document management systems.
* Strong background in engineering project management and Stage Gate delivery frameworks.
* Experience in product design and development using V&V methodologies.
* Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.
