Working at CQUniversity

Join one of Australia's most engaged and inclusive universities, where innovation, industry collaboration and community connection are at the heart of everything we do. CQUniversity is proud to lead initiatives that deliver lasting benefits for our regions, and we invite you to be part of a project that is shaping the future of renewable energy in Queensland.

About the role

As a key leader in the Hydrogen Community Hub Project Team, you will manage the planning, delivery and growth of this flagship initiative - part of CQUniversity's broader commitment to renewable energy through its Centre for Hydrogen and Renewable Energy. The project focuses on building community awareness, education and engagement around hydrogen and renewable energy opportunities.

In this dynamic and highly collaborative role, you will work closely with industry stakeholders, schools, community groups, Traditional Owners, and government partners to design and implement strategies that activate the Hub and ensure its long-term sustainability. You will oversee project plans, budgets, and reporting, leading and contributing to research, development and engagement activities that position CQUniversity as a leader in the renewable energy space.

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Senior Research Officer or Project Manager with exceptional communication skills, strong stakeholder networks, and a sound technical understanding of the renewable energy sector - particularly hydrogen technologies. Your ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences, combined with experience navigating government and community engagement, will be key to your success. At CQUniversity, your work will help shape a cleaner, smarter energy future for all.

17% superannuation (with the choice to join an award-winning superfund)

6 weeks annual leave (incl. Christmas and New Year closure)

10 days personal/sick leave, plus 5 days carer's leave

7.25 hours engaged service leave

Fantastic professional and career development opportunities

Up to 26 weeks (six months) paid parental leave

Proven research capability, including experience contributing to renewable energy-focused projects.

Strong knowledge of project management principles, with a deep understanding of government processes, political contexts, and community engagement strategies.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain diverse stakeholder relationships, supported by well-established networks across Queensland's renewable energy sector.

A track record of successfully developing and delivering innovative initiatives, including securing funding and driving strategic outcomes in the renewable energy space.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with demonstrated success in leading complex projects and contributing to high-level planning and delivery.
