* Competitive Salary: $107,131 - $116,969 pa (plus superannuation and leave loading)

About The Role
Are you an experienced caseworker in the community services, family or similar sectors looking for a role where your skills genuinely change lives?

allied professional role (not a legal position)
, working alongside our lawyers to support clients through some of their most challenging moments.

You'll provide trauma‑informed, client‑centred support to people navigating family law or care and protection matters including those facing domestic and family violence, mental health challenges, and complex trauma. Your expertise helps clients feel supported, and empowered throughout their legal journey.

In This Role, You Will

* Partner with lawyers to support and prepare clients to participate in their legal matters before, during, and after Court.
* Offer clinical insight and support to clients with complex social and psychological needs.
* Help clients set goals, build capacity, and navigate government and community services that strengthen safety and wellbeing.

Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.

About You
You're an experienced case worker who brings strong community and clinical practice skills and thrives supporting clients with complex needs. You have experience working with adults, particularly around risk, safety, trauma, and navigating difficult life circumstances.

* Psychosocial assessment and understanding the broader factors affecting client wellbeing
* Case planning and responding confidently to high‑risk situations (i.e. domestic and family violence and mental health concerns)
* Providing trauma‑informed, person‑centred support to clients with complex trauma histories
* Collaborating with professionals to develop clear case plans that support client goals

You're comfortable working in high‑needs environments and ready to partner closely with lawyers to plan and support clients through their legal journey. You're calm, adaptable, and committed to improving outcomes for people who are experiencing disadvantage.

You Must
The essential requirements for this role

* Have 5 years' minimum relevant experience
* Have Diploma Level 5 and above (minimum 2 years study)
* Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
* Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
* Some roles may require the ability for remote travel

The Family Law Division have several roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working with Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working with Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
