NT Health - Registered Midwife (Nurse 2) - Darwin/Palmerston, Katherine, Alice Springs, Nhulunbuy (Full-time/Part-time/Casual) - Ongoing/Fixed
Birthing services in the NT are provided in 4 geographical locations (Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, and Nhulunbuy). Antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care is delivered right across the NT.
Models of care provided by NT Health include:
- Midwifery Group Practice (caseload/continuity of carer)
- Team midwifery
- Remote Area Maternity care
- General Practitioner Obstetrician care
- Shared care
- Public hospital maternity care
- Public hospital high risk maternity care
Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months experience (1664-1976hrs) in a relevant area of clinical practice.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing/midwifery care to an allocated group of clients.
2. Works within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and practices in accordance with relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
3. Works collaboratively and acts as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team.
4. Contributes to the maintenance of a physically, culturally, and psychosocially safe environment for healthcare consumers and staff, modifying work practices where necessary to meet the needs of clients and the work setting.
5. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision making and interactions with consumers and colleagues.
6. Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling appropriate behaviour.
7. Follows defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Capacity to work shift work and be redeployed to other clinical areas to meet clinical needs.
Selection criteria:
Essential
1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
2. Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to, co-ordinate client care resulting in positive clinical outcomes.
3. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to contribute effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
4. Demonstrated understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence provision of health care for clients and families.
5. Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles in a health care setting.
