Position Overview
The role of Consultant Allergist Immunologist – Allergy & Immunology is a fixed‐term part‐time position (0.2 FTE/14 hours fortnightly) covering a 6‐month sabbatical leave. The position commences on 1 January **** and ends 31 December ****, based primarily at Northern Health one day a week. The consultant will conduct outpatient allergy & immunology clinics, supervise trainees, engage in research, and contribute to departmental quality improvement.
Responsibilities
* Provide medical care for allergy and immunology patients in outpatient clinics at Northern Health, ensuring departmental objectives are met
* Teach and supervise allergy‐immunology trainees, paediatric trainees, paediatricians and nurses in line with the department training roster
* Participate in department research and audit projects, acting as team member or lead investigator
* Assist the Northern Health team with additional tasks (e.g., triaging) to support department objectives
* Liaise with other hospital departments (dietitians, respiratory laboratory staff, etc.) to deliver high‐quality patient care
* Interact meaningfully with patients' families to ensure patient‐centred care
* Provide leadership, act as a learning resource to junior staff and participate in other projects allocated by the Department head
Qualifications and Experience
* Current Specialist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
* FRACP accreditation through Immunology and Allergy JSAC or equivalent speciality
* Extensive knowledge and practical experience in paediatric allergy and immunology, including investigation and management of primary immunodeficiencies and allergic diseases (food allergy, asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis, insect and drug allergy), and experience with challenge procedures and immunotherapy
* Demonstrated clinical experience in paediatric immunology and allergy
Additional Requirements
* Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain one
* Valid Working with Children Check
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one (if applicable)
* Compliance with RCH's "Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine‐Preventable Diseases" procedure
* Compliance with vaccination requirements, including annual influenza vaccination for Category A and B roles and provision of an Australian Government Immunisation History Statement
