Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Speech Pathology inpatient and outpatient services within NT
Health.
Context statement
The Katherine Hospital, Big Rivers Region, Allied Health Division provides integrated allied health services in a variety of
service settings including acute and sub-acute care, primary health care, age care and mental health. There is currently one
available position, with applicants being sought for the following area: Community. This position will require the applicant
to work within an extended hour’s services model, which may include weekends.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Speech Pathology services under minimal supervision within a
multidisciplinary framework.
2. Provide feedback to the senior staff and management on program and clinical issues in Speech Pathology.
3. Provide clinical supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff.
4. Prioritise and manage caseload within an ever-changing work workplace to ensure timelines and health outcomes are
met.
5. Co-ordinate and/or contribute to continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local or
regional level to ensure delivery of contemporary Speech Pathology services.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Speech Pathology that meets the membership eligibility requirements of Speech Pathology
Australia.
2. Post graduate experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Speech Pathology services to patients and
families/carers.
3. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with
patients and families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working
in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Experience in clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to professional development.
6. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high-volume workload.
7. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical education, leadership/management or speciality practice area.

the position. This role carries specific immunisation requirements. To be eligible for appointment, you will be required to
