OverviewMackay Regional Council is seeking two motivated and qualified Water Treatment Operators to join our Aquatic Facilities team on a temporary full-time basis for a 12-month contract.About This OpportunityWorking independently under remote supervision, this role is responsible for the ongoing operation and monitoring of Council's swimming pools and aquatic facilities.
The position ensures compliance with relevant legislation including the Public Health Act, WorkSafe QLD, and local government regulations.As a Water Treatment Operator – Aquatic Facilities, you will play a key role in maintaining public health and safety standards through expert water chemistry management, routine plant room operations, and facility maintenance.
This role also offers access to internal training and development, with potential progression into broader Water Treatment Operator roles across other Council facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain water treatment systems in line with regulatory and safety standards.Conduct regular water quality testing and maintain accurate records.Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.Promote and uphold Council's values, fostering a culture of safety, respect, and integrity.Essential Qualifications, Experience & SkillsC Class Drivers LicenceGeneral Construction Induction White CardDemonstrated experience in aquatic facility operations or similar environments.Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Desirable, but not essential:Qualifications in water treatment operations.Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Pool Plant Operator certificationCertificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation or equivalentWhy work for Mackay Regional Council?
