Design and deliver SCADA & control systems for HV substation projects, driving innovation across energy and renewable infrastructure.
The Opportunity
EPEC Group is seeking a motivated and technically capable SCADA & Control Systems Engineer to join our growing operations team. In this role, you will lead and deliver substation SCADA and communications solutions across high‐voltage and renewable energy projects—playing a key part in enabling Australia's energy transition. This is a hands‐on role with exposure across the full project lifecycle, including design, testing, site integration, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA & Communications
* Lead the design, development, and delivery of substation SCADA and communications systems
* Develop functional descriptions, schematics, IO/points list, and control system documentation
* Conduct bench testing, FAT/SAT, and Proof of Concept testing
* Work closely with TNSPs, AEMO, and clients to ensure compliance
* Support AVR control systems development and optimization
* Identify opportunities for system optimization and value engineering
Project Delivery & Engineering
* Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery within time, cost, and quality targets
* Develop and maintain project documentation, QA processes, and reporting
* Identify risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies
* Provide technical guidance and leadership to project stakeholders
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams
* Coordinate with construction teams to ensure alignment with design intent
* Prepare and present project status updates and reports
Administration & Compliance
* Manage RFIs, submittals, and design documentation
* Support procurement, contract administration, and project billing activities
* Ensure compliance with WHS, engineering standards, and client requirements
About You
* Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or related)
* 5+ years' experience in SCADA, control systems, or HV project environments
* Solid understanding of substation, HV systems, or industrial automation
* Experience with AutoCAD and engineering documentation
* Strong knowledge of engineering standards and project delivery frameworks
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‐solving skills
* Construction White Card
* Willingness to travel occasionally as required
